Keep your U.S. job or clients and live legally in Spain for up to 3 years. We file directly with the UGE in Madrid — from turning your American paperwork into evidence Spain accepts, to your residence card and full setup.
After filing, the UGE has a statutory window of up to 20 business days to decide.
Spanish law recognizes employees, independent professionals, and company owners — but the American evidence for each is completely different. Filing the wrong profile is the most common reason U.S. applications get bounced back.
You work remotely for a U.S. company. No need to quit — your employer signs a remote-work authorization letter and you keep your job while living in Spain.
You invoice clients or companies based outside Spain. Your service agreements and payment history are the core of your application.
You own a U.S. company and work through it. A distinct application profile with extra documentation — and the one most often filed wrong without guidance.
200% of Spain's minimum wage, set in euros and updated annually. Proven with your last 3 months of pay stubs or invoices plus matching bank evidence. Savings can cover a shortfall.
At least 3 months with your current employer or clients at the time of filing — and the company must have been genuinely operating for at least 1 year.
A university degree, or documented professional experience of at least 3 years in functions similar to your current role.
FBI Identity History Summary Check, apostilled by the U.S. Department of State, covering your countries of residence for the last 2 years.
Plus qualifying health coverage (or Spanish Social Security enrollment) and MAEC sworn translations of every public document. The full checklist, adapted to U.S. paperwork, is here.
Americans can enter Spain visa-free for up to 90 days. Filing with the UGE while legally in Spain grants an authorization of up to 3 years (a U.S. consulate issues 1), the process is fully electronic with a REGAGE file number you can track, and the law sets a 20-business-day decision window with positive administrative silence.
The trade-off: the UGE reviews documents strictly, and American paperwork doesn't map 1-to-1 onto Spanish requirements. That translation of evidence — not of language — is our specialty.
